Wildlife Image of the week for 12/4/2008 |
Welcome to Yellow Wood Guiding, owned and operated by Jared Gricoskie. Yellow Wood Guiding is my living dream. I was inspired at a young age by great wildlife programs like Marty Stouffer's Wild America, and a large backyard to explore in central Pennsylvania. I have been a professional naturalist since graduating from Penn State University with a degree in Environmental Interpretation in 2002. After working as a naturalist across the country I settled in the Colorado Front Range to place my guiding business in a location that I love, Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. As of July 7th, 2009 Yellow Wood Guiding offers tours in the Estes Park region 365 days a year. In 2013, Yellow Wood Guiding is in its seventh successful year offering guided tours in the park. In 2008 I presented at the Photographic Society of America's National Convention. 2009 shaped up to be a great year, with being quoted by National Parks Magazine (click for the article), as well as leading Rocky Mountain Nature Association Seminars, and helping lead the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Writers and Photographers 2009 Scenic Wildlife Photo Workshop. 2010 brought more photo workshops including the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Writers and Photographers 2010 Scenic & Wildlife Photo Workshop, leading Seminars with the Rocky Mountain Nature Association, and being featured as an Editors Pick in Sunset Magazine's 2010 May Edition for Photo Safaris. 2011 was a record year for tours and tons of snow. In late February 2011 Yellow Wood Guiding was part of segment on the World Fishing Network show Hookin' Up with Mariko Izumi. 2012 was mixed due to drought conditions and fires, but at the same time we had amazing wildlife sightings including record moose and big horn sheep. 2013 is shaping up to be a better year with more snow fall, great Rocky Mountain Nature Association Seminars, the RMOWP Workshop, and Travel + Leisure quoting us in an article on the Best National Park for Spotting Wildlfie. The business's name is derived from Robert Frost's The Road Less Traveled in honor of all those that go out to explore the world, and bring it to the people. What better way to explore than to take the road less traveled. Yellow Wood Guiding is Authorized by the National Park Service, Department of Interior to conduct services in Rocky Mountain National Park. Book your tour:
